Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By using gatheredink.com (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. What the Service does

Gathered Ink lets a host (“you,” if you're creating a collection) invite people to share memories about a person, pet, or occasion through a guided AI conversation. Individual contributions are synthesized by AI into a single written portrait, delivered to the host.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a collection or make a purchase on Gathered Ink. There's no strict minimum age for contributors — sharing a memory about someone is often something a child or grandchild genuinely wants to do, and we don't want to exclude that. Consistent with our Privacy Policy, we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, and young children should contribute with a parent or guardian's involvement.

4. Accounts and host responsibilities

Hosts verify their identity by email to create and manage a collection. You're responsible for:

  • The accuracy of names and email addresses you provide for contributors.
  • Having a reasonable basis to invite the people you invite, and for how you use and share the finished portrait.
  • Keeping your access to your account/collection secure.

5. Contributors

People you invite, or who join via a public link or QR code, do not need an account. By submitting a contribution, a contributor agrees that their response may be used to generate a synthesized portrait for the host, as described in our Privacy Policy. Contributors do not receive the finished portrait directly — only the host does.

6. Payment and pricing

  • Standard pricing is $49 per collection, one-time, not a subscription.
  • Hosts in our founders program (event planners and similar partners we work with directly) receive a set number of free collections, then a reduced lifetime rate — terms of that program are communicated directly to participants, not self-service.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

Refunds: Once any contributor has begun sharing memories for your collection, the purchase is final — not once the portrait has been generated. This is because a real person has already given their time and a genuine memory at that point; undoing the purchase would discard something a contributor gave in good faith, not just a computation. If no contributor has started yet, or if you experience a technical problem that prevented the collection from working as intended, contact us at support@gatheredink.com and we'll make it right.

7. Content ownership

  • Contributors retain ownership of the individual memories and stories they share. By submitting a contribution, they grant Gathered Ink and the host a license to use that content to generate and deliver the synthesized portrait.
  • Hosts own the resulting synthesized portrait once delivered, and are free to use, edit, print, or share it as they choose.
  • Gathered Ink does not claim ownership of your memories or the finished portrait — our role is to provide the tool that creates it.

8. AI-generated content

Portraits are generated using AI, synthesizing multiple contributors' responses into a single narrative. This is not a verbatim transcript — it's a composite, written account. Hosts should review the finished portrait before using it as a keepsake or sharing it further; you have full control to edit it.

9. Prohibited conduct

Don't use the Service to:

  • Harass, defame, or intentionally embarrass someone.
  • Submit illegal, abusive, or knowingly false content.
  • Impersonate someone else when contributing.
  • Attempt to access another host's collection or content without authorization, or attempt to circumvent payment.
  • Interfere with the Service's normal operation (including automated abuse of public/shareable links or contributor endpoints).

We may remove content or suspend access for violations of these terms.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We don't guarantee a specific emotional outcome, tone, or level of detail in any synthesized portrait — quality depends on what contributors choose to share. We aren't responsible for how a host chooses to use, share, or present the finished content.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Gathered Ink isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the collection in question.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. You can stop using the Service at any time.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
